Mat 2021 – 1st TT

The editor of the monthly MAT (the official journal of the Polish Chess Federation) Tomasz Makowski – announces an international formal competition with original helpmates in 2 moves [h#2] – twins formed as a result of taking a white or black piece from a chessboard. Multiple twins [b, c, d etc.], set play and multi solutions are allowed.
Fairy pieces and conditions are not allowed.
3 prizes: 100, 60, 40 euro.
Judge: Krzysztof DRĄŻKOWSKI – national master of chess composition.
Deadline: September 10, 2021.
The director of the competition is GMI Waldemar TURA.
Compositions on diagrams or in notation with the full solution should be sent to the competition director:

The director will present the submitted compositions to the judge in an anonymous form.
The verdict will be announced in the December 2021 issue of MAT and sent electronically to all participants.

Leopold Szwedowski Memorial Tourney 2021

The Polish Chess Federation announces a memorial tourney dedicated to the great Polish composer Leopold SZWEDOWSKI in the following sections:

  • twomovers [#2] – judge Jarosław BRZOZOWICZ
  • threemovers [#3] – judge Jan RUSINEK
  • selfmates in 2 – 3 moves [s#2-3] – judge Eugeniusz IWANOW

Prizes, honourable mentions and commendations will be awarded.
Please send problems to the tournament director Piotr MURDZIA:

Closing date: 15.07.2021.
All received problems will be presented to the judges in anonymous form.
